Labor Day was originally organized to celebrate various labor unions’ strengths of and contributions to the United States’ economy. Labor Day is a public holiday. It is a day off for the general population, and schools and most businesses are closed. Labor Day is a day of rest or the last chance for many people to go on trips before the summer ends.
